Type Locality and Naming

Along the Shaida-Raz collective farm, Kuldjuktau Mountains, Central Kyzylkum. Y.B. Aysanov et al., 1984.

Lithology and Thickness

Light and dark gray banded, marbled limestones. Thickness up to 100 m.

Lower contact

The relationship with underlying formations is unknown. Schematic stratigraphic column indicates the lower contact as Arankazgan Fm

Upper contact

It is transgressively overlain by a terrigenous facies of the Taushan Fm (44; Aysanov et al., 1984).

Regional extent

Central Kyzylkum, Kuldjuktau Mountains, at a single point (2 km southwest of the Shaida-Raz collective farm).

Fossils

Limestones are filled with remains of amphipores and crinoids Pentagonocyclicus obesus Yelt., Hexacrinites ex gr. kartzevae Yelt. et Dubat. of late Devonian age.
